I’m a social justice organizer and activist. As a former undocumented immigrant, first-generation student, woman and Indian-American, my personal experiences translated into my advocacy for women’s rights and self-empowerment. I first started organizing around bullying-prevention when I was 12 years old, holding workshops and serving as a peer educator. Since then, I have organized numerous social justice rallies and events, created curriculum centered around women’s issues, joined Brown Girl Magazine’s team as a writer for their politics/social justice section, and serve as Associate Director or GenZ Girl Gang.
Seeking powerful women that look like me, I ventured to Jaipur, my birth city, and listened to the stories of women from all walks of life. Their stories showed me that I come from a lineage of powerful women. I’m the founder of Global Girlhood, an organization dedicated to empowering women globally through storytelling and the use of social media. I hope the stories Global Girlhood shares ignites a revolution where women globally celebrate and spark each other’s power. I am an undergrad at Cornell University, and I continue to use my voice to create change.
